System builder parameters

Over 500 parameters to help you build complex rules for your horse racing systems

The parameters available for the filtering criteria in the selection system’s editor are organized below. Some allow additional configurations, resulting in 500+ unique parameters (with even more on the way) that can be used for building complex racing systems.  

Market parameters

Month (available in Market)
The month component of the race’s date.

Day of Week (available in Market)
The weekday of the race.

Country (available in Market)
The country where the race takes place. Currently only races from UK and IRE are available.

Course (available for Market)
The course where the race takes place.

Going  (available for Market)
The going of the race (ex: Fast, Soft, Heavy, etc.).

Race Type
All race types are available: Flat — All Weather, Flat — Turf, Chase, Hurdle and NHF.

Race Classification
30 + race classifications are available: Handicap, Novice, Maiden, etc.

Race Class
Only for UK races; standard UK horse race class (from 1 to 7).

Total Runners
Total runners in a market.

Number of Places
Total number of places in a market, , computed as follows:

  • 1 place — total runners less than or equal to 2
  • 2 places — total runners greater than or equal to 3 and less than or equal to 7
  • 3 places — total runners greater than or equal to 8 and less than or equal to 15
  • 4 places — total runners greater than 15″
Selections Won in Last Race (%)
The percentage of selections that won in their last race.
 
Selections Placed in Last Race (%)
The percentage of selections that placed in their last race.
 
Selections Ran in Last 90 Days (%) 
The percentage of selections that ran at least one time in the last 90 days.
 
Selections First Time Out (%)
The percentage of selections that never ran before.
 
Selections Sex 
Available options are: Males Only, Females Only, and Both Males & Females.
 
Total Males (%) 
The percentage of males among runners.
 
Total Females (%) 
The percentage of females among runners.
 
Distance
The distance of the race, specified in different units of measurement.
 
Age Category 
The age category of the race (ex: 2yo+, 3yo to 5yo, etc.).
 
Minimum Age 
The age of the youngest runner in the market.
 
Maximum Age 
The age of the oldest runner in the market.
 
Minimum Price 
The BSP of the first favourite.
 
Maximum Price 
The BSP of the last favourite.
 
First Favourite’s BSP
The Betfair Starting Price of the first favourite.
 
Second Favourite’s BSP
The Betfair Starting Price of the second favourite.
 
Third Favourite’s BSP 
The Betfair Starting Price of the third favourite.
 
Average Official Rating 
The average BHA ratings of the runners.
 
Has Official Rating
YES — runners in the market have BHA ratings; NO — runners in the market do not have BHA ratings.
 
Prize 
The prize won by the winner of the race.

Selection parameters

Sex
The sex of the runner (Male / Female).

Draw
The draw of the runner in a race (where applicable).
 
Never Ran Outside Great Britain
This keeps track of the runners that only ran in UK & IRE races. TRUE — the selection ran only in UK & IRE races; FALSE — the selection also ran in races outside UK & IRE.
 
Rank
The selection’s rank by its BSP.
 
Probable Loser 
Specifies if the selection is among the probable losers, judging by the BSP.
 
Joint / Co-Favourite
If the difference between selection’s BSP is less than 10%, they are considered joint favourites.
 
BSP
The Betfair Starting Price of the runner.
 
Price to Runners (No Ratio)
The ratio between the BSP and total runners in the market.
 
Price Difference (points) 
This is the difference between two selections’ decimal odds — expressed as an absolute value.
 
Price Difference (ticks) 
This is the difference in ticks between two selections’ decimal odds — expressed as an absolute value.
 
Price Ratio
The ratio between two selections’ decimal odds.
 
Has Official Rating 
Specifies if the selection has BHA rating.
 
Official Rating
Value of the BHA rating.
 
Official Rating Rank 
The rank in the market by BHA rating.
 
Official Rating Difference to Top 
The difference to the highest BHA rating in the market (as an absolute value).
 
Official Rating Difference to Bottom 
The difference to the lowest BHA rating in the market (as an absolute value).
 
Age
The age of the runner.
 
Age Difference to Oldest 
The age difference to the oldest runner in the market (as an absolute value).
 
Age Difference to Youngest 
The age difference to the youngest runner in the market (as an absolute value).
 
Weight 
The additional weight carried by the selection, expressed in pounds.
 
Weight Rank 
The rank in the market by the weight carried.
 
Weight Difference to Top 
The difference to the highest carried weight in the market (as an absolute value).
 
Weight Difference to Bottom 
The difference to the lowest carried weight in the market (as absolute value).
 
Weight Difference to Average 
The difference to the average carried weight in the market.
 
Equipment 

The equipment worn by the selection, with additional information about whether it was worn for the first time or not.

Previous race — BSP 
The BSP in a previous race.

Previous race — Rank 
The rank (by the BSP) in a previous race.

Previous race — Probable Loser
If probable loser (by the rank) in a previous race.

Previous race — Won
If won in a previous race.

Previous race — Placed
If placed in a previous race.

Previous race — Finishing Position
The finishing position in a previous race.

Previous race — Loser
If among losers in a previous race.

Distance Difference — to previous race
The difference of distance compared to a previous race.

Class Difference — to previous race
The class difference compared to a previous race.

Same Course — as in previous race
If the current race is at the same course as a previous race.

Same Jockey — as in previous race
If the jockey is the same as in a previous race.

Same Trainer — as in previous race
If the trainer is the same as in a previous race.

Selection, Jockey and Trainer Parameters

Days Since Last Run 
The number of days that passed since the last run. Races are filtered by the Race Type Configuration.
 
Days Since Last Win 
The number of days that passed since the last win. Races are filtered by the Race Type Configuration.
 
Races Since Last Win 
The number of races that passed since the last win. Races are filtered by the Race Type Configuration.
 
Races Since Last Lost 
The number of races that passed since the last loss. Races are filtered by the Race Type Configuration.
 
Days Since Last Placed 
The number of days that passed since the last place. Races are filtered by the Race Type Configuration.
 
Races Since Last Placed 
The number of races that passed since the last place. Races are filtered by the Race Type Configuration.
 
Races Since Last Unplaced 
The number of races that passed since the last unplace. Races are filtered by the Race Type Configuration.
 
Total Runs 
Total numbers of runs. Races are filtered by Race Type Configuration and Period Configuration.
 
Total Wins 
Total number of wins. Races are filtered by Race Type Configuration and Period Configuration.
 
Consecutive Wins 
The number of consecutive wins. Races are filtered by Race Type Configuration and Period Configuration.
 
Total Losses 
Total number of losses. Races are filtered by Race Type Configuration and Period Configuration.
 
Total Placed 
Total number of races where placed. Races are filtered by Race Type Configuration and Period Configuration.
 
Consecutive Placed 
Total number of consecutive places. Races are filtered by Race Type Configuration and Period Configuration.
 
Total Unplaced 
Total number of races where not placed. Races are filtered by Race Type Configuration and Period Configuration.
 
Strike Rate Win (%)
The win strike rate from all previous races:

Strike Rate Place (%)
The place strike rate from all previous races:
 
Strike rate - place
 
Races are filtered by Race Type Configuration and Period Configuration.
 
ROI Back (%) 
The ROI (Return of Investment) from all previous races. Back bets of £1 are considered.
Return on Investment formula - back betting
  • Profit/Loss — the total profit
  • Total Bets — the total number of bets (at £1 this equals to the total capital employed)

Races are filtered by Race Type Configuration and Period Configuration.

ROI Lay (%)
The ROI (Return of Investment) from all previous races. Lay bets of £1 are considered.

Return on Investment formula - Lay betting

  • Profit/Loss — the total profit
  • Total Liability — the total liability of the bets (the capital employed)

Example: A £1 lay bet is placed on a selection with odds of 5.5. In this case, the liability (or capital employed) is £4.5, because this is the amount lost if the selection wins.

Races are filtered by Race Type Configuration and Period Configuration.

Allowance
Jockey Jockey’s allowance in the race.
