# Back Multiple Step Recovery

With **Back Multiple Step Recovery staking plan** a fixed percent of the bank is wagered. When a bet losses, the objective is to recover the deficit.

The recovery process is composed of several cycles, each cycle containing a number of steps. When the first loss occurs, the staking plan enters the initial cycle. The deficit is split equally among the cycle steps. This deficit fraction represents the target profit for each of the following races until the number of cycle steps is reached.

At the end, if all the bets win, the deficit will be recovered completely. If another bet losses before the completion of the cycle steps, the staking plan enters the next recovery cycle. The new loss is added to the remaining deficit and the sum is divided equally among the cycle steps. This process continues until the total deficit is recovered or the set number of cycles and steps are finished.

At the end of the recovery process the stake reverts to a fixed percent of the bank.

There is an option to recover also the total value of the stakes for the bets that lost. Another option adds to the cycle steps bets the base stake placed when the staking plan is not in recovery mode.

## Settings

The following parameters can be configured in this staking plan:

**Percent of X bank to bet**: the value of the base stake expressed as percent of the bank.**X**: the type of bank to which the percent value is applied:**initial**: the percent value is applied to initial bank.**current**: the percent value is applied to current bank.**highest**: the percent value is applied to highest bank.

**Percent to recover**: the percent of total deficit to be retrieved during the recovery process.**Number of cycles**: the number of cycles in the recovery process.**Number of bets per cycle**: the number of steps contained in the cycle.**Recover lost stakes**: enables the recovery of the stake for each lost bet.**While in recovery, add base stake to the current bet**: enables the addition to the cycle steps bets of the base stake placed when the staking plan is not in recovery mode.**While not in recovery, use dutching to calculate stake when multiple selections qualify**: this option applies dutching algorithm to split the total stake among multiple selections in a race. When the option is not used the total stake is placed for each qualified selection. This setting applies only when the staking plan is not in recovery mode.

### Recovery process stake calculation

During the recovery process the stake is calculated in accordance with the following scenarios:

**1. Single selection qualifies for a race**

**– While in recovery, add base stake to the current bet**: not checked

deficitFraction = totalDeficit / cycleSteps

stake = deficitFraction / (selectionPrice – 1)

where:

**totalDeficit**= total deficit to recover.**cycleSteps**= number of steps contained in the cycle.**deficitFraction**= fraction of the total deficit to be recovered in the race.**selectionPrice**= selection decimal odds.**stake**= stake to place for qualified selection.

**– While in recovery, add base stake to the current bet**: checked

deficitFraction = totalDeficit / cycleSteps

stake = baseStake + deficitFraction / (selectionPrice – 1)

where:

**totalDeficit**= total deficit to recover.**cycleSteps**= number of steps contained in the cycle.**deficitFraction**= fraction of the total deficit to be recovered in the race.**selectionPrice**= selection decimal odds.**baseStake**= base stake placed when the staking plan is not in recovery mode.**stake**= stake to place for qualified selection.

**2. Multiple selections qualify for a race**

**-While in recovery, add base stake to the current bet**: not checked

deficitFraction = totalDeficit / cycleSteps

targetProfit = deficitFraction

divisor = |(100 / totalProbability) – 1|

totalStake = targetProfit / divisor

where:

**totalDeficit**= total deficit to recover.**cycleSteps**= number of steps contained in the cycle.**deficitFraction**= fraction of the total deficit to be recovered in the race.**targetProfit**= target profit for the race.**totalProbability**= total probability of winning for all qualified selections.**totalStake**= total stake to place for all qualified selections.

The stake for each qualified selection is calculated using the dutching algorithm. In case the total probability of winning for all qualified selections exceeds 100%, the race profit will be negative.

**– While in recovery, add base stake to the current bet**: checked

deficitFraction = totalDeficit / cycleSteps

targetProfit = baseStakeProfit + deficitFraction

baseStakeProfit = |(100 / totalProbability) – 1| × baseStake

divisor = |(100 / totalProbability) – 1|

totalStake = targetProfit / divisor

where:

**totalDeficit**= total deficit to recover.**cycleSteps**= number of steps contained in the cycle.**deficitFraction**= fraction of the total deficit to be recovered in the race.**targetProfit**= target profit for the race.**totalProbability**= total probability of winning for all qualified selections.**totalStake**= total stake to place for all qualified selections.**baseStake**= base stake placed when the staking plan is not in recovery mode.**baseStakeProfit**= profit earned in case any of the qualified selections bets wins, when the totalStake equals baseStake.

The stake for each qualified selection is calculated using the dutching algorithm. In case the total probability of winning for all qualified selections exceeds 100%, the race profit will be negative.

**3. Race profit less than deficit fraction**

It can happen that the race profit is less than the deficit fraction. In this case, the unrecovered deficit is split equally among the remaining recovery cycle steps.

### Back Multiple Step Recovery Example

Let’s assume the following settings:

- Initial bank: £200
- Percent of current bank to bet: 2
- Percent to recover: 50
- Number of cycles: 2
- Number of bets per cycle: 4
- Recover lost stakes: not checked
- While in recovery, add base stake to the current bet: not checked
- While not in recovery, use dutching to calculate stake when multiple selections qualify: not checked

**Step 1**

- base stake is £4
- 1 selection qualifies at decimal odds of 4.5
- total stake is £4
- bet wins and the profit is £14
- current bank is £214

**Step 2**

- base stake is £4.28
- 1 selection qualifies at decimal odds of 3.5
- total stake is £4.28
- bet losses and the loss is £4.28
- current bank is £209.72
- total deficit is £4.28
- total deficit to recover is £2.14
- deficit to recover fraction is £0.54

**Step 3**

- recovery cycle is 1
- cycle step is 1
- base stake is £4.19
- 1 selection qualifies at decimal odds of 5.5
- total stake is £0.12
- bet losses and the loss is £0.12
- current bank is £209.60
- total deficit is £4.4
- total deficit to recover is £2.2
- deficit to recover fraction is £0.55

**Step 4**
